Another Groundhog Day is here. Today, we’ll find out if there will be six more weeks of winter or an early spring. Tonight, I’ll watch Groundhog Day on AMC.
It’s on all day long!
Ever since I watched Bill Murray’s movie, Groundhog Day, I’ve wanted to attend the festivities in Punxsutawney, PA, which is only a few hours away from Pittsburgh. I’ve had friends that have attended the event. They’ve told me it’s not worth the effort but that hasn’t deterred my hope of going.
It might very well be awful. Actually, there is no way it can live up to the experience I’ve built in my head, which is to replicate Bill Murray’s journey during the movie, like staying at a bed and breakfast, carving an ice sculpture, ordering every dessert at the local diner, playing the piano at the Groundhog Day Ball where someone asks me if this is really my first lesson and I respond with a straight face, “Yes, but my father was a piano mover, so…”
There is no way a trip to Punxsutawney for Groundhog Day would ever live up to the above events.
I only know one thing for sure. One day I’ll find out.
