You’re not smart enough.

You’re not strong enough.

You’re not fast enough.

You’re not pretty enough.

You’re not tall enough.

You’re not liked enough.

You’re not cool enough.

You’re not skinny enough.

You’re not polished enough.

You’re not loud enough.

You’re not calm enough.

You’re not good enough.

You’re not ____ enough.

If you’re waiting for someone to tell you’re enough then you might want to get in line. There are millions of people already playing a similar game. That’s not to say you can’t ever be enough for whatever you choose to do. I hope one day you will be enough.

There is another option. This option doesn’t exclude you from the first option. It just includes some extra work. Extra work is something most people never want to hear about. Even if it allows you to cut in line.

You might be asking yourself, “Why wouldn’t everyone choose the second option?” That answer is easy. They don’t choose it because standing in line is easier. Writing something, giving a speech, creating a piece of art, starting a group, leading a cause, or simply talking to someone new exposes you. Most people don’t like feeling exposed. It makes them uncomfortable. It makes them uncertain, but it is can also make you feel alive.

Two options. You choose. Will you wait for someone to tell you that you’re enough, or will you decide for yourself?
