Speech of the Week: Divisional Contest

Today, I gave the best speech of my life but I ended up coming in second place so I won’t be moving on to the district contest. Nobody likes to lose but this was a great experience. Giving a new speech every week has been rewarding because it’s forced me to creat new material but I haven’t had the time to perfect each speech.

This competition has allowed me to give different variations of the same speech about six times. I’ve been able try different things, cut out uneccessary parts, and receive priceless feedback.

I’m glad I participated but now I’m ready to take what I’ve learned to create some new material. I have one humorous speech almost complete. I need to complete three more speeches to earn my Advanced Communication Bronze. Then only five more speeches to complete my Advanced Communication Silver.

It’s time to get to work.
