For the past few weeks, I’ve been training for the Pittsburgh Half Marathon while thinking about what charity to run for this year. Last year, I completed the goal of running the race in my father’s honor. Many of you helped me raise over $1,000 for the American Heart Association.

This year, I’ve decided to run the half marathon for the Light of Life Rescue Mission that helps provide food and shelter for the homeless of Pittsburgh.

To date, I have run 184 miles so far for my half marathon training. All of those miles have been outside. Every time I am out in the cold, I can’t imagine not having a place to stay for the night.

That is one of the reasons I think Light of Life is special. Everyone who stays in their emergency shelter gets a warm bed for the night, a hot shower, dinner, breakfast, and two opportunities to go to Chapel. Here is a video clip from WTAE interviewing one of their emergency shelter guests:

Would you consider supporting me as I train to run 13.1 miles for the homeless on May 1st? Your support helps provide food and shelter to those who have nowhere else to go.

My goal is to raise $1,000 for Light of Life.
