Common Interview Question: Can you tell me a little about yourself?

Can you tell me a little about yourself?

Tip: Use the Present-Past-Future formula.

1) Present—Where you are right now.
2) Past—A little bit about the experiences you’ve had and the skills you gained at the previous position.
3) Future—Why you are excited for this particular opportunity.

My example:

“I’m currently a financial manager at PNC, where I’ve helped to create the Funds Transfer Pricing team who’s goal is to assign profitability to the bank’s products. Before that, I worked in investment management at Federate Investors in their Fixed Income Performance & Risk Analysis team where a worked on developing and explaining performance and risk analysis to the rest of the fixed income team. And while I really enjoyed the work that I did, I’d love the focus back on the financial markets, which is why I’m excited about this opporunity.”
