My tenth and final BIG Goal of 2015 is figure out a way to raise money and/or give my time for a cause I support. Last year, I completed my first charity run as a member of the American Heart Association Pittsburgh Half Marathon Team in honor of my father. This year, I’d love to do another one but with two kids, a full-time job, housework, and nine other goals, I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to train.
I’ll be spending a lot of my time thinking of ways I can satisfy multiple goals at a time. That’s what I’ll be trying to do with this goal. For example, if there is a way I can work on my pick four goal of learning to code while getting involved in a community and helping a a nonprofit at the same time? That’s why I’m interested in Free Code Camp but there are ways I can do this in the Pittsburgh area. I only need to figure it out.
This year I want to learn how to give more and maximize the amount I’m able to give either through raising money or offering my services.
Last year, I wrote about my three big themes for 2015. They were Write, Code, and Give. Though I thinking Code is still something important in my life. I think it’s a little more accurate to change it to Do. A local Pittsburgh innovator @LeahLizarondo has three short sentences at the end of her Twitter bio: I write. I speak. I do.
I think that is a more accurate description of what I’m trying to achieve in 2016. I’ll still be coding every day but it will be a part of my Do theme.
In 2016, I’m adding another theme, Speak. This will all be another blog post because everything is a blog post. In that blog post I’ll explain in more detail about why in 2016 I’m planning to Write, Do, Speak, and Give more than ever.
I’m not sure exactly how this goal will turn out, that’s what I’ll be thinking about in the next week or two, but by the end of 2016 I’ll have giving more than 2015.
That’s my goal: To give more every year.
