Writing a daily blog post was my main goal from last year. It was also my most successful goal. I didn’t write a post every single day but I wrote more than ever before. For at least the majority of the year I did write a post every day, even when my daughter was born at the beginning of the year. Not every post was long or great, most of them were garbage, but I kept publishing. Some days it was only a sentence. It didn’t matter. It was about creating the habit. In 2015, I published 356 posts.
I think this daily habit along with giving a speech every week will be the two biggest impacts in my life. Last year, I wrote a lot. I had a great year and I learned a lot about myself. This year I’m going to see were all this writing takes me. I want to use my writing to help achieve my other goals, such as creating speech material and publishing a book.
Last year, I did a good job of sticking with a goal I’ve struggled to complete the last few years. The goal for this year is to continue that habit and publish something ever day. It’s also about continuing to show my work to more people through social media like Facebook and LinkedIn. Notifying my friends about my Facebook fan page where they can read my writing.
Writing a daily blog last year changed my life. It allowed me to create a lot of content. More importantly, it gave me the opportunity to think about my life, what I’m doing, what I want to do, and how I can achieve those goals. I’m looking forward to another great year of writing and how my life will be changed.
I’m also starting a new writing habit. The past few weeks, I’ve developed a bad habit of grabbing my phone after my alarm goes off and then mindlessly scroll through social media for about a half hour until I woke up. This morning of wasting those thirty minutes I mad up my mind to grab my notebook and knock out my 750 words the old fashioned way. It’s the way I’m going to complete my writing for the next month to see how the process works for me. I’ll post an update at the end of the month to let you know if I was able to stick with it and if it will be something I want to continue with for the rest of the year.
