Finding Your Dream

Last week, I rewatched the documentary, Man on Wire, with my wife because she wasn’t able to finish it the last time we tried watching it.  My favorite part of the film is when the main character, Philippe Petit, describes the moment he discovered his dream.
A seventeen year old Petit was sitting in a dentist’s office waiting to get a sore tooth checked. While reading a magazine he saw an article about a plan for a pair of sky scrapers in New York City and they were also going to be the tallest buildings in the world. At that moment he realized he needed to figure out a way to walk across them. His problem was he needed a way to save this article so pretended to sneeze. When he pretended to sneeze he ripped the article from the magazine, shoved it in his pocket, and ran out the door. He remembers his tooth hurting him for another week but it was a small price to pay for his dream.

What’s your dream?

I haven’t discovered my dream but that doesn’t I’ve quit looking. I don’t know if it will ever be a single moment like Petit’s dream but I hope to one day do something as memorable.

I’m never giving up because Petit reminds us that finding your dream is priceless.
