Focusing on my Strengths

Yesterday, I had a StrengthFinder Discovery training and they focused on how different people have different strengths.  None of the thirty-some strengths are any better than the others but it is the way you are programmed to work.  The trainer explained that these strengths are what you should be focusing on in your life because they will be the things that create the most value and bring you fulfillment.

That’s what I’m thinking about today and the rest of this weekend.  How can I focus on maximizing my strengths to complete the type of work that is important to me?

One should waste as little effort as possible on improving areas of low competence.

It takes far more energy and work to improve from incompetence to mediocrity then it takes to improve from first-rate performance to excellence.

  • Peter Drucker

The above quote is what I want to accomplish.  I want to improve my first-rate performance to excellence.

One of the to-do items from the training was to list all five of our strengths on one side of the page and then describe a recent situation in which you applied talents from each theme.
