Last week, I talked about joining the, Summer of Data Science (#SoDS). I’ve decided to focus on learning Python instead of trying to learn Python but also use R during all of the data science courses. I should concentrate on one language since I can do pretty much everything I need to do in Python. I have a pretty good understanding off R from taking Johns Hopkins R Programming course.

Today, I’m plannning out my Summer of Data Science. This summer, I’ll be focusing on completing the Zipfian Data Science Primer:

- Python
- Data Science
- Math

Here’s the curriculum broken out for each of those areas for June, July, and August. For each month, I’ll pick some course to focus on in each of those three areas. Eventually, Python and Data Science will become the same area of focus. I’ll also try to choose one book to read during the month.

- June
- Python: Complete Learn Python The Hard Way (LPTHW).
- SQL: SQL Zoo
- Data Science: University of Washington’s Introduction to Data Science on Coursera (8 weeks).
- Math: Khan Academy Probability courses

- July
- Python: MITx: Introduction to Computer Science.
- Data Science: University of Washington’s Introduction to Data Science on Coursera (8 weeks).
- Math: Khan Academy Statistics courses.

- August
- Python: Think Python (book)
- Data Science: Data Science with Open Source Tools (book)
- Math: Khan Academy Linear Algebra courses.

At the end of the Summer of Data Science, my goal is to then complete Andrew Ng’s Machine Learning course on Coursera.
