Expensive Notebooks

One of my goals as a parent is to instill in my children the desire to read, write, and learn for the rest of their lives.  I’ve been thinking about buying them notebooks to keep in their room.  One day when they’re older, my wife and I will teach them how they can fill those books with their hopes, their dreams, and their stories.

I like what most people would call ‘expensive notebooks’ like Moleskin.  I currently have a large red hardback with square paper, a large green hardback 2015 daily calendar, and a black volant notepad that I carry in my backpack almost everywhere I go.  These notebooks cost between $6 – $20 which is way more than I could pay for a similar size notebook at Target. They’re expensive, I’m not going to argue that point, but I hope what I write in them will eventually be worth much more than I paid for them.

I hope one day someone will find one of my old notebooks, look inside, and say, “You only paid $20 for this?”
