I’ve only listened to the first chapter of the audiobook. I’m not sure if it’s just me but has book has some racist names.
In the first chapter there is a story of a man being surprised that his uncle didn’t beat a colored girl for the way she talked to him and then another story referred to a Chinese man as an Oriental and a Chinaman.
I don’t think I’m even through the first chapter but this book is highly recommended by almost everyone so I’m going to stick with it.
So far I’m not impressed with the audiobook but I doubt the publisher put much thought into it. The narration is boring and it took 7 tracks to finally get to the first chapter. There were a few tracks were the narrator just read the acknowledgements.
Oh well, I’ll see if it gets any better. Hopefully it will and I’ll know what to skip next time.
