Nightly Reading

Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of business and technical books and articles. I feel like I need to incorporate some different topics but the issue is figuring out when I have the time with family, home, work, and school tasks to complete it doesn’t leave much time for anything else. Monday through Friday I take the T to work which gives me about half an hour each way to read. Usually I’ll read whatever business book on my way into work. On the way home I can read or if my eyes are feeling fried from staring at a computer all day then I try to listen to an audiobook. But I need some fun reading incorporated in my day. It’s why I want to start the nightly habit of reading for a few minutes before bed each night. I want to make this my time to read something fun. I’ve been meaning to finish a classic like Ernest Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms or a popular nonfiction book like Lords of Finance. I like the idea of reading two books at a time. This way I can still make progress on my business book reading list and keeping up with my classics/fiction/popular nonfiction reading list. The point of this nightly reading is suppose to be fun. I’m not going to make a list of books I want to read and not stray from it or make it so I need to read them in a particular order. I want to this goal to be fun and easy. Right now, I want to finish A Farewell to Arms and I’m thinking I might want to read another Hemingway book, For Whom the Bell Tolls, but once I’m done with A Farewell to Arms I might have had my fill of Hemingway. I may find myself interested in a completely different book. The point is to read whatever I find interesting at that point in time. It starts tonight.
